Major League Baseball and the players union have agreed to a deal which allows an administrator to oversee the league's drug-testing program.  According to a New York Times' report the administrator will be appointed to a fixed term and will have protection from being dismissed. The current drug-testing program has overseall by four appointed representatives, 2 from the league, 2 from the baseball players union and a 5th person appointed to resolve disputes.  This current system's independence has been criticized by some anti doping experts.

Early indications generated by former US Senator Mitchell's report appears to be making some changes to the steroids in baseball problem.
